Wednesday night floats

After the evening service on Wednesday during camp, all the campers and any family that would like to join them, go to the college campus and enjoy some time together over root beer/orange/coke floats.

I guess Austin couldn't decide which flavor he wanted.

They are all 3 doing great and loving camp. After the floats, they had them playing a game like soccer where you had to get the ball to the other goal, but everyone was sitting and they had to hit a blow up ball. If they got out of their seats, they had to do push ups. Time to say good bye.....Here I am at 32 weeks 5 days. :0)

First night at camp

While Ski and I were sitting in prayer meeting, I remembered that the kids forgot to get their Bibles from the van and take them with them to Bible camp. So, after prayer meeting and the opening ceremony of cubscouts (all the webelos except one weren't there due to camp), we decided to go out to camp for the evening service and take the kids their Bibles.

Alana is in the back row with some of her friends. Alana and Caleb are on the Batteries team and Austin is on the Bunnies team. Not sure why they are split up. They normally keep brothers/sisters on same teams, but that is ok.

This picture is blurry, but I think you can see the yellow on the guy in front's left shoulder. It is egg yolk. Bro Matt Sexton was talking about 3 different kinds of eggs. One was empty and he related that to leaving camp empty. The second one was boiled or changed and he related that to leaving camp changed. The last egg was the same and he related that to leaving camp the same way that you came. He said he hoped and prayed they would all leave changed. Amen!

We sat in the back in case Sarah Joy got cranky. Fortunately, they all 3 did very well!

Off to Camp

Well, today is the big day! Austin and Alana were scheduled to go to camp this afternoon. Although this is Alana's first year, she has been looking forward to it since Caleb started going, which was 4 years ago. She was the first one ready this morning!! Surprise, surprise! Yesterday at church, Pastor announced that any 7th graders that wanted to go to jr. camp this week, could go for only $25!! Wow! What a deal! Thank you, Pastor Sexton! So, Caleb decided (with the help of mom and dad) to go too. He was excited to go and was most grateful to see another 7th grade boy at registration this afternoon! He will not be alone with all those "children"! LOL! I am still confused as to how Alana has the smallest suitcase between the 3 of them! Can you guess which one is hers? *smile*

Finally.......

.....she says. The "she" being Alana. She has been begging us to let her get her hair cut. I finally talked her Daddy into it, I mean, got permission from her Daddy to let her get it cut. Her hair grows super fast, so we will let it grow out again, and by then, hopefully, she will be able to do more things with it than just a ponytail! :0) She absolutely loves her new do! Unfortunately, only about 7 inches were cut off, and that isn't enough to send to Locks of Love.

Austin also got his annual summer hair cut. He would have it shaved bald if we would let him. This was as close as it was going to get! Of course, he also loves his new hair cut.

Noah also wanted to be included in this blog post. When asked if he wanted a hair cut like Austin, he said "NO!" very emphatically, so he just got a normal hair cut, as did Caleb. A very special thank you to our dear friend, KL, for coming over and making us all beautiful again! :0)

Water fun!!

The kids had so much fun yesterday. We thought about waiting until after vacation to set up the pool, for many reasons, one main one being safety. We wouldn't want someone falling in the pool and drowning while we were gone. Plus, it would get really dirty, etc. But after much persuasion from the kids, we decided to go ahead and put up the swimming pool. We actually set up about 4 swimming pools! :0)

Who says money buys happiness?? They had so much fun filling up anything that would hold any significant amount of water and playing in it. They were allowed this fun after washing the van for daddy. They loved that too!

Today, on daddy's lunch break, we had a pizza picnic lunch at the local water park. We weren't there long, but the kids had fun there too. There are water spouts that shoot up out of the ground and also a little playground off to the side. Here is a picture of Sarah Joy in her new swimming suit that a friend of mine made! Broken finger?

Well, here is the story. We had just gotten to church on Wednesday night, when Austin's hand delayed in letting go of the door jam. The outside metal door slammed on Austin's poor little finger. Part of his fingernail turned black almost immediately. He ran cold water over it which made it feel a little better, but not too much. He kept telling me it hurt during church, which doesn't it always hurt when you smash a finger? By the time we got home from church, his finger had started to swell. I gave him some tylenol before bed, but it didn't stop his tears. He was in much pain which kept him up most of the night. The next morning, he was still in tears telling me it hurt. I just kept telling him, it would be sore for a few days. Then I started looking online about possible broken fingers, etc and everything I read said to get an x-ray done to be sure if it is broken or not. I then started thinking about how little Austin's bones are and how heavy that outside door is. So, we decided to take him to Children's Hospital. They did an x-ray which confirmed that it is NOT broken (PTL!), but the dr. had to drill/burn a hole in his fingernail to relieve the pressure that was continuing to build up behind his fingernail. Austin thought the tool was cool, but he didn't like the dr. squeezing his finger to release the pressure. Austin was a great patient though and I am so sorry he got hurt. I had given him Tylenol yesterday morning, but when we got there the nurses gave him some motrin also. By the time the dr. was done squeezing, he told me he would also give Austin some Tylenol with Codine to help with the extra pain from the procedure. After the ER, we went to Chik-fil-A and Austin got a kids meal (a rare treat for our family!). BTW, did you know you could trade the toy in for a small ice cream cone? I thought that was pretty neat! By the time we got home, Austin was a bit woozy to say the least, so I told him he could go lay on our bed. He slept for about 2 hours! Poor guy. He is doing much better today, but his finger is still sore. That's about it for our adventure yesterday. Yes, I did remember to take pictures! ;0) These are not for the weak! heheh!

What a week!

Ok, so it seems this week might have been the busiest week of the summer! Remind me of this after the summer is over and I might have to rethink that statement. It started with my dr's appt on Monday morning. Everything is fine and I even lost a pound! Woopie, seeing that I gained 9 the month before! :0) Then later that afternoon, Caleb went to teen camp. This was his first year going to teen camp, but he did great! Mom had a harder time, but prayed for him daily. Then starting Monday night, Austin had his cubscout twilight camp at the Crown College campus. That was nightly (except for Wednesday which is church) from 5:30-9ish PM. We were all able to go up there since they had special activities for "tag-a-longs" which included games, crafts, walks and snacks. Daddy helped with the b.b. gun shooting range and I, while sitting on the side lines, made sure no one went past the caution tape along the side of the shooting range! :0)

Tuesday was a long day of babysitting then twilight camp.

Wednesday I had my 3 hour glucose test (which I passed, but that was a looooong morning!), then church that night.

Thursday was clean the house day and twilight camp. After camp, we were able to go to the grocery store to buy groceries that was much needed!

Friday, we loaded up the van at 7:45AM to go to a yard sale that was selling maternity clothes. I didn't find much of what I was looking for but we did find some added blessings. We then came home for an hour or so, then up to the school park for about a half hour (it was soooo hot!) while we waited for Caleb to come back from camp. Twilight camp finished up that night with a campfire from 9-10PM. Austin earned many awards during the week, plus shot the bullseye many times with the b.b. gun!! Good job, Austin!

Saturday, Daddy took the older 5 kids fishing since it was free fishing day! They had alot of fun fishing and swimming to top off the end of the day. They came home for about an hour, then we headed out to shop for some needed items and grabbed burgers at BK so make it home in time to get ready for Sunday.

I am tired just thinking about our exciting week!! We are grateful to God for his provision and for his hand of protection during our very busy week!

BTW, can you believe with all that happened this week, we didn't take 1 picture??? Yikes! Here is a picture of the kids from last fall. Better than nothing, right?? I will try to do better the rest of the summer! ;0)
