It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon in the not so distant past. The kids were playing outside. I was in the bed extremely ill. From my bed you can see the front door. I was just getting ready to lie back down when I heard terrible screaming and crying from my baby boy who just turned 4. He had decided to ride his bicycle down our long, steep bumpy driveway and picked a bike that has problems with the chain. While he was in the midst of going way too fast for a 4 year old, the chain gave way and he flipped over the handle bars and went face first into a very rocky, gravel driveway. Doesn't he know how we have told him not to ride his bicycle down the driveway? How many times we have told him was too many to count. We told him he would get hurt and now he was screaming in pain. I remember looking out of our bedroom doorway and seeing a strong daddy cradling my baby in his arms and rushing him into our bed to me. He had a bump on his head, scrape on his cheek and chin, both of his elbows were ripped of their skin as well as the palms of his hands and his chest had gravel puncture wounds on it even though he had a shirt on. I was thankful he had pants on or his knees probably would have been terrible too. Needless to say, we washed him up, put medicine on his wounds, loved him extra and in a couple of days, he was back to "normal".
However, I can not get over how this reminded me of me in my Christian walk. I am pretty sure, you will be reminded of yourself too! How many times has God told me not to do certain things (you know what those things are.)? How many times has He told me that if I do them, I will get hurt? Yet, in my tiny human mind I think I know better, and I do end up getting hurt! I can imagine how Jesus must run to myr rescue, scoop me up and run back to my Father in Heaven and beg Him to heal me, spiritually speaking. God loves me so much more than I could ever even imagine loving my own children. How His heart must hurt when I am hurt and how eager He is to heal me. Yet, the scars remain. As much as He lovingly tends to my wounds, scars will still remain. Scars could be terrible memories that flood my mind, or maybe it's a physical wound, or, I could go on, but I'm sure you understand what I am saying.
I am so thankful today for a loving Heavenly Father who loves me unconditionally. May I seek to honor Him, please Him and obey Him in all I do and say, knowing that when I fail Him, He will always be there to rescue my hurting heart and soul.

Psalm 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart,
and bindeth up their wounds.
and bindeth up their wounds.
