President's Day Fun

We had such a fun day yesterday. The kids were off of school for a Regional Teacher's Clinic. Austin was able to write his book report and also get some stuff accomplished for cub scouts! The bad news is Caleb was in the ER on Sunday night at which time we found out he has the flu! Ugh! He is already starting to feel better, thank the Lord! This has been the worst sick season in a very long time! I'm ready for it to warm up enough to air the germies out of the house!! Anyways, the highlight of our day yesterday was the kid's lunch!
Can you tell what it is? This is the kid's favorite. It is supposed to resemble an octopus swimming in an ocean. However, I did not have green or blue food coloring, so I told the kids the octopus was swimming in koolaid!! It is a hot dog on top of Ramen noodles! Who would have thought such a simple meal could be so loved by kids? *giggle*
I think Austin loves this the most! He is saying "yes" with much enthusiasm! He ate the legs first and left little stubbies. I told him he had a midget octopus! LOL!
Alana ate the octopus body first so she had octopus legs all in her ramen noodles! So funny!
Yes, Bethany is wearing dress up. This is her "normal" attire when hanging around the house! She loves dress up. She informed me she did not like ketchup in her ramen noodles! Yes, Noah has a bed head. This is also his normal look when around the house! :)
Sarah Joy's new thing is sucking her pointer finger.
Some of you may remember how she used to suck her 2 middle fingers. She did that for quite awhile until she discovered pacifiers at about 1 year of age. I know....silly mistake.
Well, now that the paci is gone, she has found her pointer finger. She usually only sucks it when she is tired, but she is starting to do it more and more. Her little knuckle is turning all red! I'm not sure if I should give her the paci back and break her of her finger or what? Any ideas? It is still so very cute, but I am thinking of 4 year old Noah who STILL sucks his thumb!!! Yikes!

I hope you are all having a wonderful February!

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity,

How great is that I bet my girls would love it! My #4 Sarah did the exact same thing as Joy did when she was little. How cute! Looks like you all had a great Valentines day too! Hope the rest of you stay well.

What a neat and creative way to do lunch for the kids. I can see why they like it so much. Not only for taste but for presentation too. That is very creative!!

Goodness, Amy give her that pacifier back! LOL... If she were ready to give it up, she wouldn't be looking for a substitute.
From personal experience I can honestly say that it's much easier to throw away a bunch of pacifiers when they're truly ready to lose it, than it is to un-attach an appendage!

But you get what you pay for and that, My Dear, was FREE!

We'll have to make these cute/hideous ocean animals for lunch one day! :)Do you just put blue food coloring in the water that you boil the noodles in? Beautiful kids!

Helene and Hayley got a kick out of your lunch photos. Too funny!

I say give the paci back! I know fingers are cute (Hayley-thumb) but now I'm sorry I didn't push the paci. It's always wet and gross and her sleeve is always soaked...and we just recently noticed that her teeth look affected by it too. I need to ask the dentist. They haven't seen her yet, but I might insist.
