We have been having so much fun decorating for Valentine's Day! I don't remember ever decorating for this holiday before, but I think it's such a perfect time to remember God's love for us. The Bible says "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." Jesus laid down his life not only for his friends, but also for his enemies. Romans 5:8 says "But God commendeth his love for us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." What an amazing God. So, this year, we decided to celebrate this "love" holiday! We started with our fireplace mantle and hopefully each year we will add more decorations. I found alot of inspiration at many different blogs and tried to incorporate some of each. We are in the process of making a valentine tree. They have already cut out some hearts, but we are waiting to cover them with scrap book paper, glitter and pictures!

The girls started painting the branches while the boys were at the Faithful Men's banquet. I overheard Bethany tell Alana "I can't believe we are actually painting! This is so much fun!"

While they were painting, I was in the kitchen getting my candles all decorated. I was so excited!
After the candles dried, I set them in my new vases and filled the bottom with Valentine M&M's.
The night before, Austin, Alana & Bethany cut strips of pink and red cardstock and I stapled together a paper chain. It turned out really cute too!
I bought some .50 cent frames at WM and cut out stencil letters from the same cardstock and put those on the mantle too. I thought it turned out really cute and was super cheap! :)
While the boys were at the banquet, Bethany, Alana and myself also made a rag valentine wreath.

My favorite piece of decoration on my mantle. It was written by our 6 year old son who is in kindergarten. What a great way to show this treasure off, huh?
