Are you aware that if you died tomorrow,
the company that you’re working for
could easily replace you in a matter of days?
But the family you left behind
will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.
That will surely make you stop and think, huh?
I have read this little poem before, but I just ran across it again
and thought I would share it on my blog.
~~~~
I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
“Oh excuse me please” was my reply.
I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
“Oh excuse me please” was my reply.
He said, “Please excuse me too;
I wasn’t watching for you.”
I wasn’t watching for you.”
We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said good-bye.
We went on our way and we said good-bye.
But at home a different story is told.
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
Later that day, cooking the evening meal
My son stood beside me very still.
My son stood beside me very still.
When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
“Move out of the way,” I said with a frown.
“Move out of the way,” I said with a frown.
He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn’t realize how harshly I’d spoken.
I didn’t realize how harshly I’d spoken.
While I lay awake in bed
God’s still small voice came to me and said,
God’s still small voice came to me and said,
“While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.
Go and look on the kitchen floor
You’ll find some flowers there by the door.
You’ll find some flowers there by the door.
Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.
He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.”
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.”
By this time, I felt very small
And now my tears began to fall.
And now my tears began to fall.
I quietly went and knelt by his bed
“Wake up, little one, wake up,” I said.
“Wake up, little one, wake up,” I said.
“Are these the flowers you picked for me?”
He smiled, “I found ‘em, out by the tree.
He smiled, “I found ‘em, out by the tree.
I picked ‘em because they’re pretty like you.
I knew you’d like ‘em, especially the blue.”
I knew you’d like ‘em, especially the blue.”
I said, “Son, I’m very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn’t have yelled at you that way.”
I shouldn’t have yelled at you that way.”
He said, “Oh, Mom, that’s okay.
I love you anyway.”
I love you anyway.”
I said, “Son, I love you too
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue.”
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue.”
We had lots of fun this weekend, after a long first week of school. On Saturday, the cubscouts had a family picnic at Mt. Moriah. The boys were able to go on the huge waterslide! This is Caleb waiting for the whistle.
Here is Austin going down...
down.....
splash!
That was fun!!
This one is for you, Angela. This is Ringo and Noah enjoying their hot dog lunch! Noah informed me today that Evan takes big bites. I guess he learned that from Ringo on Saturday! *wink*
On Friday night, Alana was invited to a Bounce house. All the kids had loads of fun! They have a special area that is only for kids under 3 years of age, so Sarah Joy enjoyed herself. She learned quickly how to get in and out of the ball pool. Here she is showing you how big she is by getting out all by herself. First, you lean forward as far as you can....
...then you put your hands down to the ground....
..then, ooooops! *Ahem* Now, for my next trick! *sheepish grin*
Ok, so I am not sure what happened on this picture, but it's kinda neat looking! This is Bethany.
Here is Caleb playing with an air hockey game. Those hoses blow out air and you use that to move the puck around. It was a neat game!
Wild girl Bethany just getting off of the big slide.
Noah sliding too.
Austin and Alana sliding.......
well, Alana slid down. What is Austin doing?
Austin?
Can you see it in his eyes?
Look carefully!!!!
Hhhhmmmm, he says......
AUSTIN WAYNE!!! NO SIR!!
What did I do?
So, is this a game or a way to cool off?? hehehehe!
Always take time to enjoy your family and friends.
Psalms 5:11
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice:
Your housework will still be there tomorrow, but your family might not be!
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice:
let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them:
let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
Love, love, love the pictures! This is a great reminder about our families! Tell Sarah Joy that Jon Paul finally began crawling this week! :)
Haha...Evan DOES take big bites! And that is a good reminder about how we treat our families. Pastor told me once, years ago, that we say and do the worst things to our loved ones because we know they will love us anyway. Thanks for the reminder!
The Bounce USA was lots of fun...enjoyed the pix! :~)
That was real sweet that Noah wanted to sit by "Mr. Ringo." We did have a nice conversation about food and how he takes big bites, just like my son Evan.
Also, it is interesting that you should mention enjoying the family because I had the same exact thought while looking at Evans pictures on our blog.
Thanks for the "exposure".
