Halloween and the Bible

Listed below are Bible verses that discuss the very things that took place when Halloween first started and what still takes place at times.
Many people have been exposed to oujia boards, seances, and other forbidden practices during Halloween.
Some may reply, "But we only do this in fun...we don't practice witchcraft."
That which represents Satan and his domain cannot be handled or emulated "for fun".
Such participation places you in enemy and forbidden territory and that is dangerous ground. And why would you want your child exposed to such practices.
Some may think that we are over emphasizing the influence of the demonic during Halloween. Too much emphasis on witchcraft and the satanic.
It is not as bad as we think.
What about the presentation of violence, murder, blood, atmosphere of fear, and death that is during Halloween.
Many more homes have goulish decorations.
The violent and grotesque movies come out during Halloween and are the number one videos rented during Halloween.
Halloween is preoccupied with death.
More destructive acts are done during Halloween.
The Bible makes it very clear that we are to not have nothing to do with the deeds of darkness.
"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret."
Ephesians 5:11-12
"When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. "
Deuteronomy 18:9-12
"And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. ."
2 Corinthians 6:16-18
"Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."
2 Corinthians 7:1
"Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them."
Jeremiah 10:2
"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,"
Galatians 5:19-20
"But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils."
1 Cor. 10:20, 21
"Neither give place to the devil."
Ephes. 4:27
After reading the origin of Halloween and what the Bible has to say, why would a Christian parent allow their children to dress up as witches, monsters, or any other evil representation? Why would they allow their children to go to haunted houses?
Why would they allow their children to go to a Halloween party that plays around with seances, ouija boards, tarot cards, or watching violent videos?
Why would they let their children trick or treat in a neighborhood that has displays that are intentionally made to be frightening and/or grotesque?
You know what many parents say, "Because my child will get upset if I don't let them. Their friends will make fun of them".
Where in the Bible does it say that we should allow our children to rule over us?
Where in the Bible does it say that we should allow other people's opinions influence us.
I would challenge you to do something constructive with your children this Halloween.
In our next nugget we will share of some ways to "redeem" the Halloween season.

Amen sister,
I am so tired of christians thinking if they stand up for what is right and Biblical, someone will make fun of them. So what if they do. The only person we have to please is Christ. Stand up christians and say, Enough is enough, we will stand for what is right and Godly.
