The other day while travelling through town, we saw this man (and his dog) walking down the street. We have seen him quite a few times. At first I thought "That's gross". He probably stinks. I mean, when is the last time he took a shower? C'mon, get a job....go flip burgers or something! Then I almost felt sorry for him. Who knows what happened on his road of life that led him to this lonesome way of living. Then the Holy Spirit got a hold of my heart and reminded me this is how I was before I came to know the Lord as my Savior! I was in bondage to my sin. "I once was an outcast stranger on earth,
A sinner by choice, an alien by birth,
But I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down,
An heir to a mansion, a robe and a crown."
A sinner by choice, an alien by birth,
But I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down,
An heir to a mansion, a robe and a crown."
Not only that, but this is how God sees all the good things that I do.
Isaiah 64:6 says "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."
When I was 4 years old, I asked Jesus to forgive my sin and come into my heart and save me. Now when God looks at me, he sees Jesus' blood that was shed on Calvary. I have been washed in The blood! I have been cleansed! Wow! I had to step off my high horse and realize that if it weren't for God's grace, this is where I would still be today! Lost in the rags of my sin!
"A tent or a cottage, why should I care?
He's building a mansion for me over there;
Though exiled from home, yet still may I sing:
All glory to God, I’m a child of the King."
John 14:1-6
Let not your heart be troubled:
ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions:
if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again, and receive you unto myself;
that where I am, there ye may be also.
And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest;
and how can we know the way?
Jesus saith unto him,
I am the way,
the truth,
and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Let not your heart be troubled:
ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions:
if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again, and receive you unto myself;
that where I am, there ye may be also.
And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest;
and how can we know the way?
Jesus saith unto him,
I am the way,
the truth,
and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
